AärdCON - Workshops

Sharpen Thy Skills at AärdCON!

The pursuit of knowledge is a noble quest, and we are honored to continue offering Workshops at AärdCON 2025!

This year, our sages and artisans shall gather in the Lower Keep’s Social Hall (downstair's Social Room), a sanctuary of learning designed for a more intimate and immersive experience.

Here, in the hush of candlelit study (softer lighting), ye shall listen, learn, and hone thy craft in comfort.

Podcasting, an Eldritch Invocation On Its Own

June 7, 2025 · 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Brian from The Stars Aren't Alright Podcast

thestarsarentalright

Join Brian from The Stars Aren't Alright Podcast to learn about podcasting basics, Call of Cthulhu, and their journey! Read more...

Join us as we walk through the process of making a podcast come to life, and of course, what makes Call of Cthulhu a perfect TTRPG for such a process. We will be going over a few of the basics of podcasting, from equipment, software,e and general setup to atmosphere and gaming. This will be a wonderful opportunity to chat about what makes TTRPGs special in the podcasting space.

Brian is an improv performer and instructor who decided a year ago to complete the set of red flags by becoming a podcaster! Currently the Keeper, Editor, and Composer for The Stars Aren't Alright, an actual play Call of Cthulhu podcast (that is doing very well in Poland at the time of writing this bio).

After having developed a love of theatre and music while growing up in Ontario, Brian came out west primarily for the mountains and found his way back into his old artistic pursuits. He is extraordinarily grateful for his friends and castmates in his podcast, and also the friends he has made and the knowledge he's gained through his primary improv community, The Kinkonauts.

The Stars Aren't Alright is an Actual Play comedy/horror podcast, blending the Lovecraftian mythos with a far future, sci-fi setting. The Keeper, Brian, uses the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG system to lead Alex, Catherine, Tom, and Leah through a series of mysterious events, unfolding into eldritch horror that stretches the character's sanity - and, in the end, learning that the true reality bending beings from outside time and space were the friends we made along the way.
